Business Assistance
The EDC of Wayne County is focused on business retention and expansion to help existing companies grow. About 80-90 percent of new jobs in Wayne County come from the growth of existing businesses.
Here are some of the ways we work to grow existing business:
- Help businesses connect with other local businesses that may be able to provide products or services that are currently sourced outside of Wayne County
- Help businesses see opportunities for growth into new areas, such as connecting existing manufacturers with companies involved in emerging technologies in life sciences
- Help businesses that have operations in other geographic areas to see opportunities for bringing more of their operations here
- Identify available local and state incentives for existing businesses that are creating new jobs and/or investing to raise the assessed valuation of the community
- Work with business and industry to develop educational programs that will provide a local workforce with knowledge and skill sets to allow them to contribute successfully to local companies
- Help find workforce development resources when specialized skills are required
We work closely with the Richmond-Wayne County Chamber of Commerce Existing Business and Industry Committee, the Chamber’s Life Sciences Initiative, Main Street Richmond-Wayne County and its Innovation Center business incubator, the City of Richmond Metropolitan Development Department and other groups countywide.
Feel free to contact the EDC by phone or e-mail if you have specific questions or if we can help you in any way.
Thanks!
